"A Kid's Book About Beauty"
Ashley Graham's wonderful "A Kid's Book About Beauty" is a reminder to speak kindly to ourselves and others. It is inspired by her career in outer beauty, she wants to teach her boys and all children that true beauty comes from within.
Ashley, the mother of Isaac, Malachi, and Roman, describes the past year as one full of wonders and rapid developments. "People tell you, people try to explain it to you, but you don't know love until you have a child of your own," she said. "I cannot believe how fast this year went, watching you turn on your own, crawl on your own, and start talking and walking on your own." The joy she feels when she sees her son playing with the ball or observing the love between her husband and her son, she describes as a beautiful bond.
When speaking about her three sons, she affectionately calls Isaac, Malachi, and Roman her "little dinosaurs." "They always want to wrestle, have a book read to them, or play with tools outside," she shared. The camaraderie of having a big family and running around together brings her particular joy. Speaking about her twins Malachi and Roman, she said, "I say, 'You are just brothers born at the same time.' There is nothing alike about them." Her firstborn, Isaac, loves being a big brother and shows great care towards his younger siblings.
Ashley also spoke candidly about the challenges of being a working mother. "As a mom, you feel guilty when you're not working, and you feel guilty when you're not with your kids. It's a constant struggle to find balance." She recalls a speech by Shonda Rhimes that inspired her: "When you're at work, you're missing time with your family. When you're with your family, you're missing time at work. You're always going to be missing out on something, so just embrace what this is."
Ashley Graham has established herself as a mother who openly and honestly shares both the challenges and joys of motherhood. Her insight into life with three sons shows how she seeks balance between career and family while cherishing the special moments with her children.
