Born in China, raised on earth!

Where are you from?

I’m an artist, and I create. I create sounds and visual arts in different forms. When it comes to sounds: I write songs, I sing, I rap, I record and I DJ; when it comes to visual arts, I’m in front of the camera as a model or actor!

What is your profession?

Can you tell us about your journey into music? What inspired you to become a DJ, singer-songwriter, and rapper?

I first discovered my passion in house music when I was living in Scotland, where I started DJing. Then I moved back to Shanghai and started writing songs, singing/rapping.

They all come to me very naturally, since I started to DJ, I emerged myself deep into the electronic music world and since I listened to so much music all the time, I started to have melody in my head so I had to sing them out and write them down, sometimes they are melodies sometimes they are raps, so they all work for me very well in a very balanced and harmonious way.

How do you balance these different aspects of your artistry - DJing, songwriting, and rapping?

Massive attack, The Prodigy, Portishead, Bojork

My first song I ever wrote and put out ‘ would you be my valentine’ was trip-hop/electrica. Somebody told me this song reminded him Portishead, that’s how I discovered Portishead.

I then released ‘Isolation’, which was heavily inspired by The prodigy, Massive attack.  Then a remix EP in Tech House/Deep House/Techno. This new track ‘I Know’ with Bolier is House/Tech House. I’m also preparing a live version with a full electronic band, with a touch of Trip-hop/electronica and maybe even some jazz/blues. As for BoJork, I love how she’s staying so true to herself and how authentic she is. I would say all of these artists have inspired and influenced me somehow.

Who were your biggest musical influences growing up, and how have they shaped your style?

Your song "I Know" has been released on November 29th. Can you share the story behind the track? What inspired it?

It was inspired by a period time when I used to live in Shanghai, going through loneliness but more of a journey from solitude to connection with myself.

"I Know" is a celebration of self-discovery and the journey toward inner contentment. It’s about finding peace in solitude. Ultimately, it’s a message of empowerment—reminding us that true connection begins within, and once you’ve got that, you can share your energy with the world in the most authentic way.

The title "I Know" is intriguing—what message are you conveying through this song?

How does this single differ from your previous releases, both lyrically and musically?

"I Know" feels like a shift for me—it's more introspective and personal than my previous releases. It’s all about transformation, connection, and that journey of self-discovery, like tapping into higher frequencies. The vibe is uplifting but still emotional, focusing more on growth and inner exploration instead of looking outward. Musically, it’s got this urban, sophisticated feel that really matches the themes. I’d say it shows a deeper, more intimate side of my artistry.

Can you give us a glimpse into the creative process of making "I Know"?

I first wrote this track about three years ago while I was in Shanghai, collaborating on the lyrics with my Korean-American friend Trent Gravelle, it was during a period when I was living on my own for the first time, and then COVID hit, with real isolations. That’s when I went through some really dark times, constantly battling depression and loneliness. However, it was also during those dark times that I found growth, which ultimately led me to transformation and this song.

Do you approach songwriting differently when working on a rap versus a vocal track?

My rapping is definitely more masculine than my singing i would say, so I do approach them differently. When I write raps, it’s usually more power, attitude and aggressive, and when it comes to a melody, they are usually a lot of softer with more vulnerabilities and feminine energy.

How do you incorporate your DJing background into your production and performances?

DJing brought me into the world of music and along the way I’ve just been going with my flow, from writing my very first song, to singing/rapping/recording/releasing etc,. which has brought my performance into a whole new level, now I can sing/rap and perform live, how exciting!

As a multi-talented artist, what message do you hope to convey to your listeners through your music?

Through my music, I share my authenticities, stories, struggles, and perspective, hoping to create a genuine emotional connection with my audience—to inspire, uplift, and empower them.

How has your style or sound evolved over time?

In the past, I’ve written and released songs spanning Trip-Hop, Electronic, House, and even R&B tracks in Chinese! Exploring these diverse styles has been an incredible journey of self-discovery, pushing me to grow musically and creatively. I see myself as an artist without boundaries—someone who thrives on freedom and refuses to be confined by genres. To me, music is limitless, and that’s exactly how I approach it: with an open heart and infinite possibilities.

What challenges have you faced as a musician, and how have you overcome them?

When I first signed with Warner Music three years ago, I went through this phase where all I could think about was, “How do I write the next hit? How do I create a song that goes viral on TikTok tomorrow?” I was so focused on chasing quick success and numbers that I lost sight of what I really wanted to express as an artist.

Thankfully, it didn’t take me long to realize what truly matters—being authentic, making music that’s meaningful, honing my craft, and growing into the artist I was meant to be. Now, I’m not in a rush anymore. I’m just enjoying the process. It’s so fulfilling to create art and connect with people along the way.

What can fans expect from you after the release of "I Know"? Are there more projects or collaborations in the works?

I’m aiming to create a live version of I know, bringing more depth, vulnerabilities to this song! And yeah many new songs coming up :)

If you could collaborate with any artist in the world, who would it be and why?

Disclosure/The Prodigy/The chemical brothers/Björk/Lee Foss/Chris Lake/Mau P/John Summit....... First a fan, then a collaborative, isn’t that called dreams come true?

Where do you see your career heading in the next five years?

That I don’t even drink alcohol!

Fashion for sure.

A true artist with no limitation or what so ever.

If you weren’t in music, what career path do you think you’d be pursuing?

What’s one thing about you that fans might be surprised to learn?

How do you unwind after a big performance or an intense studio session?

Usually after a performance I like to go afterparties coz that's when I get to party and release ALL the tension all the stress I’ve had from a show, i need to go crazy and lose myself in dancing!!
